My favorite for the season so far is the use of browns and beige in shimmering and flowing materials. The use of lace, chiffon and net take Asian outfits to the next level of elegance. In collaboration with heavy beading and traditional embroided motifs, most outfits showcased this season were show stoppers.

This coming season, polka dots can be seen everywhere in the fashion industry. I am not only talking about clothes here, but also shoes, handbags and other accessories. It has been quite a while since the last time we saw such a craze for polka dots.

Some people may find that polka dots are a big no-no when it comes to Asian fashion. They believe Asian fashion is all about being chic and sophisticated – something that the presence of polka dots is sure to ruin.

However, with the emergence of such brilliant Asian fashion designers, this has become a myth. Polka dots can now be seen surfacing the Asian fashion industry with such grace that it is hard for polka-dot-haters to believe their eyes!

I have manages to gather some of the latest Asian outfits showcased this season sporting the polka-dot! Take a look for yourself and see if these talented designers have been able to alter your opinion about polka dots or not!

The latest collection due to launch by the end of this month is the Export Collection which is a fun and spirited line using fabrics and patterns which are bold, elegant and unique at the same time. The cuts and style of each outfit make them easy and comfortable to wear while still looking fashionable and edgy. The entire collection however, has that typical Sana Safinaz feel and effect.

Soham for Kids

Faiza Seth in not your usual CEO. She is young and beautiful with a vastly diverse experience to show. Born in India and raised in the United States, Faiza initially worked at a demanding job at Lehman Brothers. A chance meeting with Luigi Esposito resulted in a successful venture with the collaboration of the two to launch Casa Forma, an architectural and interior design firm. In 2010, Faiza founded the Soham for Kids charity school for underprivileged and orphaned children in Mallapur, India. Soham For Kids is a completely free school that not only delivers a high quality education, but also addresses fundamental necessities like food, clothing and healthcare to deprived children in the country.

In order to lend a helping hand to Soham, O’nitaa donated a gorgeous outfit for the children supported by Soham. The donated outfit was bold and beautiful in a deep red and royal blue colour with gold embroided paisleys’. You can have a look at the image below.

I think the question still remains in terms of the bridal dress – should it be traditional or contemporary? The modern bride faces a dilemma when it comes to choosing the right color and style of the dress which will be remembered for a long time by family and friends. Most brides still tend to opt for the traditional red because of the traditional excellence and extravagance it brings.  However, many brides are slowing moving towards opting for a more contemporary look for their wedding day, with unique and different colors and styles.

Just recently, Jofa showcased his latest collection in London. Most of the outfits followed the trend of full-length tops worn with trousers. However, simply looking at the outfits come down the runway proved how Jofa is able to take the simplest of things and transform them into gorgeous outfits. His outfits are trendy with a touch of classic at the same time.

Hassan Sheheryar Yasin (HSY)

Over the past decade, HSY has become a widely recognized fashion label. The man behind the label, Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, has been hard at work since 1994 and was able to launch his first store in 2000. Today, HSY has outlets in major countries worldwide.

HSY started out primarily as a bridal house specializing in couture. HSY’s signature looks combine contemporary silhouettes with traditional techniques. HSY collections are diverse, yet cohesive in bringing together distinctive Pakistani, Middle Eastern and Western influences.

With the success we have seen with South Asian Fashion designers’ collection at O’nitaa, it would only be fair to platform HSY’s collections also. O’nitaa will therefore be showcasing some of the most fabulous outfits designed by HSY at the London store starting June 16, 2011 till June 19, 2011.

Just recently, at the annual Costume Institute gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to honour the work of the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen, numerous ladies were seen carrying off the colour. The event is the fashion equivalent of the Oscars so we know that everyone was dressed to impress.

One of my favourites was Blake Lively’s sari-style draped silver dress from the Chanel

Diane Kruger was wearing a sleek Jason Wu Ensable, the nude Chantilly lace top of which took about over 500 hours to embroider by hand.

Ashley Greene wore Donna Karen, her one-of-a-kind blush tulle draped strapless gown was embroidered with platinum sequins in a fishbone pattern.

Sana Hashwani and Safinaz Munir are the two creative designers behind the Sana Safinaz label, which is one of South Asia’s most popular fashion name.

Sana Safinaz is gaining vast recognition not only within South Asia, but also internationally for creating uniquely designed prints and designs with the beautiful color combinations.

Designed for the new- age woman, all of Sana Safinaz’s collections are symbolic of feminine dynamism. Their designs and intricate motifs are made well to suit the needs of the modern woman from being traditional yet trendy.

Just recently, O’nitaa had the pleasure of launching Sana Safinaz’s collection at its store in London and it comes as no surprise that the entire collection was sold out in a couple of days.
